A phase field model for Stereolithography in 3D printing: Analysis and Numerical simulations

摘要:Stereolithography is a 3D printing technique that utilizes ultraviolet lasers to cure/solidify photosensitive liquid polymer resin in order to build objects and products in a layer-by-layer fashion. In this talk we discuss the development of a new mathematical description based on a phase field model with mechanical effects, and then present a finite element/scalar auxiliary variable numerical scheme, along with demonstrating solvability, convergence and error estimates. With supporting numerical simulations we show that capabilities of this model in capturing the physical processes occurring in stereolithography.

报告人简介:Prof. Andrew Kei Fong Lam is an Associate Professor for the Department of Mathematics at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). He earned his PhD at University of Warwick in 2014, followed by a postdoc in University of Regensburg, Germany, and returned to Hong Kong as a Research assistant professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, before his tenure at Hong Kong Baptist University. His expertise lies in analysis of partial differential equations, specifically phase field models involving Cahn-Hilliard systems to describe multiphase dynamics, optimal control with PDE constraints, and numerical analysis of structure prerserving schemes for simulations of multiphase dynamics.
